More knitting goodness.
As a thank you for Greg bringing me back The Graveyard Book (the Dave McKean edition, not the Chris Riddell edition) in hardcover from the US earlier this year, I made Amelia a shawl using the lace ribbon pattern by Véronik Avery. I'm not quite a bespoke knitter—after checking with Greg whether Amelia is allergic to any fibers, I also asked what her favourite colour was. She replied that she liked everything in the amber to red spectrum. And so I went out and bought this:
Once again, it's Anny Blatt fine kid mohair (51% pure wool, 49% kid mohair; 255 m per 50 g ball). I get it from Morris and Sons. And obviously it's nowhere on the amber to red spectrum, thus demonstrating how colour-challenged I am. In my defense, I think I had the colour scheme of Amelia's website and business card somewhere in the back of my brain.
Anyway, as usual, it blocked out rather nicely:
(Pardon the rather dorky pose; I was trying to demonstrate the drape of the thing.) And the following week after it had been blocked, I wrapped it and dropped it off after Bible study where it was found on the doorstep the following morning. And once she tried it on, apparently she refused to take it off!

Hurray for dorky poses…heheheh…
Yes, it’s very dramatic. I expect to hear violins playing tragically
The shawl, of course, is lovely.
