Farewell to RAID and Hello to Continuum

Wednesday, 22 December, 2004

Today is my last day at RAID. I have removed all my personal belongings off the cubicle walls, deleted my personal files and culled my Favourites. After one and a half hours, I shall never darken these floors again and will enter the ranks of the unemployed (precursor to entering the ranks of a student).

I have decided, after Kathleen and Ramya's gentle nudgings, to take the plunge and register for Continuum 3. I checked the 2005 Moore Academic Calendar and I'm pretty sure I'm on holidays during that time. No idea how I'm going to finance this adventure (or how it's going to work) but then my birthday is just before it so perhaps I can make special requests to relevant family members. Ben is rather keen to do another road trip to Melbourne anyways.

Today I read this in preparation for meeting the man himself (fascinating insight into what it is to be a famous author who has to go to literary conventions regularly and do signings and readings and deal with lots of crazy fans). I love the part where she writes, “It is good to feed your Neil regularly. Note that if he has breakfast around 10 he won't really be hungry for lunch until 2 or so.”—as if you could get your own personal Neil!

Aaaah! Aaaaah! You’re going to meet Neil Gaiman! Aaaaaaah!

(that’s a good scream: like a wow I’m excited wow-wow-wow kinda thing.)

Wow. Very jealous. It’s also on DURING my birthday… maybe I could find Neil and get him to be nice to me because it’s my birthday?

Or…. I help you go down, and you come up with something nice and Neil-signed for me? smile

Yay! I’m glad you’re coming!
Don’t forget it’s about $40 cheaper to get your membership before the end of the year.

Haoran, why don’t you just come too? If you can’t, of COURSE I will get something signed for you. The guide to Neil handling says that the usual limit is 3 things.

Kathleen, I’ll make sure I put it in before the end of the year. It’s my first con so I can get first time con-goers rate! smile
