Floranova

A return to flowers.

Flowers don't look like this in the real world. I was given a Floranova iris card by work as part of a farewell present. And then when I was in Canberra, I stumbled upon a copy of Artlook and read this article on beautiful books:

Orme treats his subjects with the reverence one would expect of these natural beauties, using fashion photography techniques of back-lighting, shooting-oh so intimately-close-up, and cropping the photograph so that there is nothing extraneous. In doing so Orme turns his subjects into almost surrealistic images, some of which burst off the page in a colourful whirl of energy, while others, more elegant and restrained, disappear demurely into the white of the page. “Magnolia” is a swirl of white with three centres of yellow and “Gardenia” is but a cluster of shades of translucent white on the white page.

Feast your eyes.

Beautiful, beautiful books indeed!

Hello, Karen

This is Kathleen’s mom.  I was just reading her blog and read your comments or questions about Sydney Anglicanism and Qld. Presbyterianism.  I wasn’t sure how to write an answer back to you so I went to your page.

Yes, I probably would agree with your friend’s assessment.  Both K.‘s dad and I became Christians through a Presbyterian house church out west.  Mark, her dad, went onto to Presy theological college in Brisbane and I got a P.T.C. from Moore College via correspondence.  Except for so much more ritualism in the Anglican church, theologically the two are very similar.  We too have heard both Jensens’ speak and are very good friends with Michael and Marion Bennett of Christianity Explained fame.  Of course Presbyterianism as the name denotes is not hierarchical as is the Anglican church which can be a good thing.  Anyway this is just my 2 cents worth.  Greetings in our Lord
