Spend quality time with lovely husband. Do the laundry. Watch too much TV. Ignore Greek. Go to bed way too late.
Archie's on devotions and leads us in a session of open prayer. Bill introduces us to verbs (present and imperfect) and shows us bits of Schoolhouse Rock (well, the grammar bits, anyway). Schoolhouse Rock is a series of short cartoons made in the 1970's designed to teach kids about things like grammar. My favourite lyrics are:
After morning tea, Paul Barnett gives us a lecture on the archaeology of the ancient world. Lunch is chicken drumsticks and salad. Ben and I visit the library and Ben borrows his first books. We do a bit of study and then drive to Malcolm's for staff meeting. FEVA training is in the evening and dinner is running late due to bad traffic. In Apologetics, I have a go at answering the question, “Do you have to go to church to be a Christian?” and receive feedback for how I went. Feeling very tired—when we arrive home, go straight to bed.
Wake up super early to walk down to my mum's to water the plants and take in the mail. Waking up early feels great until I start to flag during the drive into town (while learning Greek prepositions) and fall asleep. We are running late and miss Barry Webb's devotions. We end up in a seat in what I am sure is the coldest part of the Kelvinator. Bill introduces us to more verbs (“to be” plus verbs with other stem endings). The whole class groans at having to learn more paradigms and is severely intimidated by the verb table at the back of our book. Thankfully we only deal with present, imperfect and aorist; future tense comes in second year.
After morning tea, Philip Kern gives us a lecture on Rome, trying to squash way too much information into one hour. The biography of Herod the Great is certainly interesting and gives The Bold and the Beautiful a run for its money. Ancient historians really are the original tabloids.
All women are having lunch at MAC (Mary Andrews College) and my goodness it's delicious. The interior decor is also quite divine, with Impressionist prints all around the walls. Almost makes me want to live at MAC. We meet the MAC chaplains (including Christine Jensen who told us that she is going to have dinner soon with the Prince and Princess of Denmark). Loretta, Teresa and Naomi have all come to college wearing Sesame Street T-shirts. Loretta suggests that we have “outfit Wednesday”. I suggest that next week everyone goes goth.
At MAC, they don't have the return of thanks like they do in the Moore College dining room (something which I find a little weird but it does round the meal off very well). Following lunch, I find Ben and Tho in the T.C. Hammond room which, I have a feeling, we're not really supposed to be in. Tho is stressed and wants to jump ahead to tomorrow's lesson on aorist verbs. I humour him and we skim through Mounce together who is quite incomprehensible. It's time for our library tour and I keep seeing really interesting books that would be really cool to read except I don't have time.
Ben and I head home with an intention of going out shopping. Lethargy sets in instead and I spend the afternoon getting things done on my To Do list which is very satisfying. I haven't touched any Greek though and we have a vocab test tomorrow.

Hi Karen -
I’ve been lurking on your blog for a year or so now and thought it might be about time to introduce myself
It’s been very interesting reading about your experiences in the last few weeks. I’ve added you to my list of “people at college to pray for”. Nice work on the knitting, too!
In Christ,
Sophie.
Thank you Sophie! I appreciate the prayers!
