The back fence, which was always leaning dangerously, rotting on the inside and falling apart, has been totally removed, along with the section of fence which, once upon a time before our time, used to border our backyard but then fell over and then was dragged onto our paving stones to cover the weeds which festered and twined about underneath.
(Funny how fences always remind me of Robert Frost's
“Mending Wall”.)
Lack of fence means that I can get to Tim and Liz's in 10 seconds instead of 10 minutes. Lack of fence, however, also makes me feel quite exposed and a little more wary about going out the back door to put out the garbage. Lack of fence means that more people are passing through because it's a convenient shortcut from the station. Lack of fence may mean we could get burgled if the deadlock doesn't hold (but it's holding at the moment).
But I do not think we will be (de)fenceless for long.

Ooo~~ I studied Robert Frost in senior school. I’m looking forward to being more “cultured” after doing the CASE course heheheheh…I feel like a fraud of an Arts graduate.
