I like ...
- buying cheap clothes, out of which I get a lot of wear. Went to town on Friday to find a birthday present for a friend and wandered into a Supré outlet where T-shirts were going for $3, skirts for $2.50 and random tops for $1. Admittedly, Supré is a bit teeny-bopper-ish and the clothing can be too tight or too revealing (or too ugly). I tried to make up for it by buying large sizes instead of my normal small. I came away with three T-shirts, a singlet top, a loose cotton dress and a skirt all for $15—nice addition to the lack of casual clothing in my wardrobe (it's work stuff which needs to be ironed and not something you'd wear to relax on the weekend). I was a bit worried that the T-shirts weren't modest enough but I checked with Ben and if my husband says it's okay on that issue, then it must be.
- going out for breakfast. This morning we went to Matthew and Evelyn's place to celebrate Miriam's birthday with a few friends. We ate dumplings and pork buns and drank Chinese tea on the back verandah. Dessert was these green wraps filled with sweet coconut—the name of which I've forgotten but they were YUMMY.
- watching my fellow Christians grow in the course of doing ministry. Today we attended a supporters' lunch at a friend's house. She is wanting to switch from part-time MTS to full-time MTS but she needs to raise the funds. It's exciting that there's the need and the desire for her to do that.
- having time to think. Been so busy lately that I feel like I'm just surviving when it comes to the day-to-day. My study is a total mess and there are so many things I still have to do. But I got this evening off I spent it catching up on my blog reading and writing a few posts. Plus I've been getting through some of the items on my To Do list. Luxury.
- when my guests enjoy the food I serve them. Had people over for dinner on both Tuesday and Wednesday night with culinary success. I always worry that I am not feeding people properly or catering to their tastebuds but sometimes I have no idea what to cook, especially if some people's food preferences are completely alien to mine.
- Hello Kitty. Can't believe she's 30 years old this year!
I don't like ...
- the company that made my now-inoperative USB flash disk. I lent it to a friend so he could copy some photos off me and it came back write-protected. Note that flash disk does not actually have a write protection switch. It should not have done that; I run Windows 2000 and he runs Windows XP. But according to a friend of mine, a lot of USB flash disks are not tested properly and their internal firmware just crashes when they see certain MODE_SENSE or MODE_SENSE_10 commands (not that I understand what that means). I have two options: find a linux guru (might appeal to our host of the hippo) or deliver the flash disk back to Hong Kong at the same time as recovering the original invoice/warranty card. In the meantime, if I want to print anything, I have to email it to a computer that's connected to a printer. Grr.
- seeing no growth in Christians. This depresses me and it sometimes makes me angry, especially if I find out that one of my Christian brothers and sisters has been persisting in sin and is totally unrepentant about it, or even flippantly repentant. I know that there are people out there who say I should be more forgiving and compassionate and less judgemental, and I know that I need to work on those areas. But I do feel righteously angry because of what they have done against God. I just try not to let that anger influence the way I treat them.
- being heaps tired. Rest is in order—good night.

I think Big W or Target are mens’ versions of Supre? Not that I think about clothes much, it’s just that I think $30 for a shirt or $70 for jeans is just plain stupid. Shirts for $10 and jeans for $30!
I’ve never been out for breakfast before. It sounds nice, though I’m not quite sure about having dessert with breakfast.
Yes, dessert with breakfast is kind of weird. Lunch I can sort of understand.

It’s weird you know. I see my Christian friends and remember what some of them were like and how they’ve grown, and then I look at myself and think “yes, I’ve grown”, but sometimes it’s not always that clear.
People take years to change sometimes. I think that sin is so pervasive that even as we struggle with it, we lapse back into it again and again. I’m thinking at this moment of one sin - that I know God hates - but I just can’t stop. I’ve tried. And tried!
But it always creeps back.
Rejoice that you and your friends are forgiven by God, and remember that people grow at different speeds and in different ways. Encourage and rebuke where necessary. And put love over all of them sweetie.
