Screen releases

Tuesday, 19 October, 2004

The Ultimate Matrix Collection comes out at the beginning of December ($100 for 10 discs). And for those who are particularly obsessed, there's the Ultimate Matrix Collection—Limited Edition ($160 with a bust of Neo).

In addition, The Lord of the Rings gets released as a 6-disc boxset ($110) and the 12-disc Extended Edition boxset ($155).

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex also comes out very soon on DVD in Australia (but not in boxset form—yet).

Takahata and Other Classics will be screening in Sydney from December 16 as will Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events which Ramya has pegged as this year's group outing movie (I can never remember when we do it—Boxing Day? It coincided with the release of the Lord of the Rings films so it must have been Boxing Day).

Howl's Moving Castle is due to be released in Australia in 2005 (grrr ....) and there's no word yet as to when Mirrormask will be out in Australia (well, they're still in post-production ...).

That Neo bust is so cheesy!

And Princess Mononoke and Goodbye Lenin came out on DVD (in HMV at least) yesterday.

Hmm, not sure that Goodbye Lenin is a movie that I’d want to own. I’ve got Princess Mononoke on DVD already but that’s because a friend gave me the entire Studio Ghibli collection for my birthday a couple of years ago. Unfortunately I found out recently that it’s pirated :(.
