The problem with this essay

Discuss the theme of wisdom in the book of Daniel. To what extent does Daniel, as a wise man, represent a new kind of Israelite wisdom?

—is not the dating problem but the wisdom problem. I've read so many definitions and statements about Wisdom, my head is exploding. I think Goldsworthy has got it right, though he is awfully cautious about talking about Wisdom influence on non-wisdom books.

Anyway my thesis is Daniel does not represent a new kind of Israelite wisdom; it's just the same thing expressed differently. I am going to start writing today and hopefully polish it off tomorrow.

At least I don't also have a sermon to write for tomorrow, like Ben.

It can’t be the same thing expressed differently, its the exact opposite.
