Hi Karen,

Just thinking about your essay (and this is my first visit to your blog so forgive me if you’ve already talked about this) and I’m wondering if you’ve engaged with any of N.T. Wright’s works on this question.  Two of his books, “The Challenge of Jesus” (for the smaller version) and “Jesus and the Victory of God” (for the heavy-weight approach) both deal with the question of Jesus’ self-understanding, in a way which revolutionised my thinking about Jesus.  You can find some other Wright writings, some of which may be on topic, at http://www.ntwrightpage.com/.

No, I don’t get commission for his book sales, but I’m a huge, biased fan of his work as I found it refreshing and intelligent.  Most of my lecturers aren’t such good fans though, and I’ve yet to discover whether I’ll lose brownie points for including him in my bibliography!  wink  Anyway, hope that helps if you’ve not encountered him before (and have time to check out new books before your due date etc etc.)

Hi the_blacke! Thanks for dropping by! I have read some NT Wright (see previous discussion) but probably not enough. Unfortunately I don’t really have time to do it for this essay but thanks for pointing me in a helpful direction anyway.

Looking forward to hearing your reading!

I wish I was there to see you read!

Also, thanks for that DVD hack - ours is a different model LG, but I discovered that it works nonetheless.
