I started watching
Sneakers and then decided I should go and do some other things that need doing. Not that I've done any of them since I stopped. And now Ben is watching it downstairs.
(By the way, the soundtrack is divine and peaceful. James Horner. Featuring Wynston Marsalis [hope I spelt that correctly].)
Today I worked on the site restructure for the
Research and Innovation Division. I'm starting with the student centre stuff first because they've given me a big pile of paper to start with. I showed them a bit of what I was doing this afternoon and they all complained about having to scroll down. Their main reason for wanting things to be kept short is that “People don't realise there's more underneath.” My goodness, what kind of society do we live in??!! As if people, who use the Internet every day, do not understand about scrolling and content that extends beyond the height of their screen! And really it doesn't matter how much I squish up the content, some people are going to end up scrolling anyway because their screen size is smaller or they prefer to see a bigger size font.
But I should keep my mouth shut and go on coding and eating leftover almonds while staring at a screen all day. It's good that I only do this Monday to Wednesday.

People need something to complain about, or demonise, it makes them feel happy because it gives them a sense of control. Even if you made something perfect, is it perfect in regards to what requirements? If you satisfy the requirements your manager gave you then everyone should be happy and if they are not then blame your manager for faulty requirements. Push the sin upward.
I hate to say it, Karen, but I probably agree with them. I think it’s better to have non-scrolling than scrolling websites if at all possible
I like sugared almonds.
A non-scrolling website is no better than a PowerPoint presentation.
I refuse to stoop to Flash.
