Only two episodes to go until I finish the seventh season of The West Wing. *Sigh!*
Week recap:
On Friday after counselling (which finished so early the traffic was a dream) I caught the train into the city and met Jess at the George St cinemas. She had a kebab for dinner and I had a Subway, and we went to see Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End which (given that my expectations were pretty low to begin with) I thoroughly enjoyed. Sure, the plot was rather convoluted and that stuff about the goddess Calypso was pretty strange and Dude, Where's My Car?-ish, but Johnny Depp made up for it, and I did feel a twinge of pity for the fate of Elizabeth Swan and Will Turner.
Saturday I had planned to go to Pilates to do my make up class but I felt like I was coming down with something (something which I think Ben already had) so I spent the time sleeping instead. We got up at 11, I made risoni, we watched A Mighty Wind and then the week's TV, and then finished off the day with A Prairie Home Companion (courtesy of the ever-generous Fish)—which, perhaps in hindsight, was not such a good choice (too much folk music?).
Then Sunday I was up relatively early doing the washing, trying to wade through my email and trying somewhat hopelessly to get to the minutes of the last Word by Word meeting. (I did eventually get to them but that was after church.) I managed to get out of band (not because I had to but because it was possible) but Ben was sick so Simon led instead and I turned up just as church was beginning. It was Jarrod's birthday so, after we washed up supper (yummy pumpkin soup by Liz), we went out to Cinque in Newtown for coffee. (I was in two minds about it; I really wanted to go but I was concerned about getting home late and then not getting enough sleep. Strange how only after two weeks of pulling in eight hours I am becoming quite a stickler about sleep!)
At Jarrod's recommendation (and Judith's, though she wasn't there—she had gone home sick but she made her voice known through Jarrod), I had an Italian hot chocolate which is not on the menu; you just ask for it. It's like melted chocolate—very creamy and very sweet. Perfect for a cold winter's evening!
I was giving lifts for people who lived in Ashfield (I swore after I got my license that I would give lifts willingly where possible out of gratitude to all the people who used to give me lifts) so I made my passengers bail at around 10. This meant I didn't get home until 11 so I ended up a little short-changed in sleep after all, but nevertheless on Monday I read through and printed out all the “From the Dean” pieces, and then spiral bound them for Tony to read through. Just making a “book” felt like a minor accomplishment, so after that I ate lunch, watched The West Wing and went home (and watched more West Wing).
Yesterday working for CASE was rather hectic—15 payments to process plus a bunch of other things to do plus I'm in the process of overhauling the way we send out CASE news. I didn't get to finish it but I had to leave at 2:30. I stopped off to say hi to Duncan and sell him a copy of Societas (our last copy!), then drove to Sydenham to meet Lizz who was coming in by train. I had wanted to get my grocery shopping done the day before but I was tired and the traffic was horrible even at 4:15. Fortunately Lizz had been forewarned. We had coffee and afternoon tea (i.e. chai latte, creamy hot chocolate, cake and a croissant) at Gloria Jean's, then she help me as I swept through the green grocer, the butcher, the Asian grocery store (where I discovered she likes Chinese peanuts just as much as me!) and Woolworths (that's a supermarket if you don't live in Australia). We drove back to my place where she helped me carry it up the stairs, and then we had to go again—to pick up some dinner for her (which we should have done at the shopping centre but we forgot) and then I dropped her off for her rehearsals for Fiddler on the Roof before going back home, picking up Ben and going to church for dinner and Bible study. There weren't very much of us so we combined with another group and did the study with them. But I bailed at 9:30 and made Ben come home with me. (I was getting anxious about not getting enough sleep because on Wednesdays I get up at 6 to catch public transport so that Ben can have the car. Public transport at that time of day only takes 45 minutes instead of an hour and a half like it does in peak hour. When I stop working at CASE, I will rearrange my days so I work at MM on Tuesdays and then have Wednesdays off.)
Today I was supposed to start my next project but it wasn't ready yet so I ended up editing a third of The Daily Reading Bible (Volume 12) and having won ton noodles for lunch while watching The West Wing. I left a little early and stupidly checked my CASE email when I got home which meant I was tied up doing CASE things (doh doh doh!) So I started cooking late and didn't realise that I had defrosted the wrong bag of chicken—the one that hadn't been diced which I normally use for poached ginger chicken. Cursing, I thought I'd switch tactics and make fish instead. Unfortunately the fish wasn't completely defrosted. Moronic chef strikes again. And I had to eat really fast and then rush off to Pilates. I suck at tricep push ups!
Meanwhile, Ben has joined Facebook and made lots of friends. As I write, lots of friends are now scribbling on his wall. I'm feeling peer pressure to join and am resisting out of stubbornness; I don't need yet another drain on my time! (But please go over and make friends with Ben so he can feel really popular ...)

I feel the same way. I joined facebook so I could see some photos a friend had put up there, but really I know that I have to keep my cyberlife to manageable proportions so I stay out of there as much as possible.
Firstly, everyone sucks at tricep pushups - they are the most hated exercise I do at the gym!
Secondly, you are NOT a moronic chef. I object!
Ben’s my friend on Facebook - yippee! I stayed up really late on Facebook last night because I got so excited that I found a particular high school friend of mine
