Wandering ‘round the rainy city

Sunday, 26 June, 2005

I've just spent a lovely week with Deborah who let me drag her around the city to all my favourite bookstores (which were having sales and selling Peter Dickinson for $1! And by the way, if you are in Sydney on the 20th July, Neil will be in both Galaxy Bookshop [from 12:30] and Kinokuniya [didn't get a time for that one]). We had a very delicious lunch at a café at Skygarden and came home to get ready for the FEVA Black Tie dinner—for which Deb very patiently bore with my directions as we traversed half of Sydney to pick up Denise and George.

This was the best-run Black Tie dinner I've been to and we came away with some good conversations with people I hadn't seen in a while, a 7-day beachside holiday and a bust of St. Catherine (Ben's impromptu purchase). I have no idea how well my knitting sold but I know that at least two hats went and the world's heaviest poncho. Overall, apparently we raised $11,000 which is great but FEVA has to make $13,000 every month.

Today we had fish and chips at Cronulla (and Ben brought St. Catherine). I have a cold and feel germy and contagious.
